Welcome Family & Friends to our Blog!

We started plans back in March 2011 and after fun with planning & zoning, etc. etc., we're on our way!  We'll have fun keeping you updated and build a diary of our experiences along the way.  As most blogs, the latest posts are on top, so if you want to follow the timeline or catch up on the madness, please scroll from the bottom up.

LATEST POST: GETTING REAL CLOSE...walls are painted, hardwood staining underway, ALL utilities hooked up!  What's left: appliances (scheduled for next week), deck railings and kitchen backsplash.

Getting Real Close!

Painting, railings and all utilities hook-ups happened over the last 2-3 weeks.  With hardwood floors drying over this weekend and appliances coming next week, we're getting very close to move in sometime later in October (crossing our fingers!)

Hardwood floors with 1st stain coat.

Temperature control center (someone was good with erector sets growing up!).  This "little" system provides hot water on demand and balances the heating between radiant (hydro) and forced air.  That white box is the entire furnace and hot water heater.

Island Time!

A day after our big catch up posts, the 10 foot Super White granite slab arrived.  Brian and team (including recruits from the high school thanks to a day off for Rosh Hashana) lugged the 800 lbs gorilla (literally) rock up the 13 steps...

Catch up Blog

LOTS of progress since our last post in late July.  However, progress is intertwined with craziness.  We've been knee deep in tons of decisions, moving to a new temp house (with a "layover" at Nana Hoxie's in New Milford) and end of summer/school starts!  So here's a bunch of pix showing cabinets, granite, tiles, fixtures, fans, trim,"shiplap" and even electricity!

We have Walls!

The sheet rock's in and it feels like a real house as you walk through now.  Was fun to watch the kids check out their rooms no longer just framed.  Of course, it didn't take our true girl, Lila (5), long to notice her closet was slightly smaller than her big brother, Hunter's!

 
 
 
   
 

Upper and Lower Deck Framing

The lower deck is designed similar to the old house with a few steps to the beach across the entire width of the house.  The upper half deck will be for "al fresco" dining and will serve as rain cover for half of the lower deck.  No more rain dates on parties!

3 1/4 inch wide hardwood floors in livingroom area, with view of the framed gas fireplace mantel

Three Generations of Hoxie girls.  Thanks to the newly installed staircases, "Nana" was able to do her first walk-thru inside the house.

Natural Clay

One of the many decisions, sometimes somewhat blind, has panned out very well!  Our "Natural Clay" colored Cedar Impressions siding looks even better in person (at least in man on the street polling:-)

...and thank God, since magazine photos and small samples don't capture the whole picture until it's too late (installed).  It's a bit of a gray and brown mix and looks different in different light.
